How to Fest

Lodging

Our Festival Headquarters, and bulk of the fest screenings and events are held at the Prytania Theatres At Canal Place in downtown New Orleans at the edge of the French Quarter and the Central Business District. There are plenty of housing options in the area. There is no shortage of great places to stay all over the city, haunted or otherwise, but the best way to enjoy the festival is by booking a room with our partner hotels!

How To Fest

THEATER OPERATIONS

We are proud to welcome longtime friends and host venue The Prytania Theatres to the Overlook family as producing partners of the festival this year.

They’ll be working closely with the Overlook staff on theater operations, tech and events. This year, the festival will see improvements in projection, line management, and oh yes, more food options at the Fest HQ!

We’ve also redesigned our queueing systems for our venues, vastly improving navigation around the theatre and will be instituting cue cards to allow for less time waiting in line between screenings. A full breakdown of new how to fest policies are available below:

PICKING UP YOUR PASS

Passes can be picked up at the Overlook Box Office, located at Prytania Theatres at Canal Place. The Theatres are located on the third floor of Canal Place (333 Canal Street). You must have a valid photo ID to pick up your pass.

  • Thursday, April 4: 11am-10pm
  • Friday, April 5: 11am-10pm
  • Saturday, April 6: 11am-10pm
  • Sunday, April 7: 12pm-8pm

Select screenings will also take place at Prytania Theatre Uptown (5339 Prytania Street).

Passes will not be available for pick up at Prytania Theatre Uptown. In the event you do not have your physical pass, you can access your QR code by logging into your Eventive account and visiting the My Passes page. You can print out your code or pull it up on your mobile device for theater entry.

Pass holders do not need to reserve tickets to films. Passes act as tickets to all films, simply scan the QR code on your pass to enter the theater.

TICKETS

Individual tickets for all screenings can be purchased (pending availability) at the box office at both Prytania Uptown and Canal Place. Please Note: Overlook Film Festival is a paperless & cashless event. Credit cards will be accepted on site.

If you purchased a ticket in advance, you must present the QR codes attached to your email confirmation to enter screenings. You may print your tickets at home or pull up the code on your mobile device.

INTRODUCING QUEUE CARDS

Popular screenings may sell out and fill up very quickly, we recommend arriving early. While entry is still on a first come, first serve basis, we have a new queueing system in place this year designed to help pass holders spend less time in line. Queue cards will not be distributed until 45 minutes prior to the screening. The queue card will guarantee your seat in the theater, up until 15 minutes prior to start time when open seats are released.

If you do not receive a queue card, we cannot guarantee your seat in the theater, but you may wait in your designated line to redeem any unclaimed seats for admission before the rush line.

We will also have Buffer Cards available for anyone in line that does not receive a Queue card for a particular theatre. Buffer Cards are not guaranteed entry, but let you know that it may be worth waiting for a chance to claim an empty seat.

FINAL GIRLS

Final Girls, please check in with the Concierge upon you arrival to pick up your pass. The Final Girl Concierge is available daily to help you plan your screenings and provide you with your priority entry cards. You will be able to pick up 1 card per screening slot, for all of the day’s screenings, up to 45 minutes before showtime. Entry is admitted once the house opens, and Final Girls will be the first to enter. In the event the theater is not ready you may be asked to wait in a designated area until we alert you the house is open. Your pass must be scanned in order to enter the theater, and you must present your priority entry card. Please wait for staff to accommodate you.

Final Girls must arrive with their entry cards at least 15 minutes prior to the screening before open seats are released.

CAMPERS

Line up where the Pass Holder signage indicates outside the box office area. Queue cards will be distributed 45 minutes prior to the screening.

Campers must arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the screening before open seats are released.

TICKET HOLDERS

Ticket holders  line up where the Ticket Holder signage indicates outside the box office area. Ticket holders are only admitted to the theater after all pass holders have entered. At 15 minutes prior to the screenings, open seats will be assessed for ticket holders.

RUSH LINE

For any films that are sold out, there will be a rush line. Pass holders and Patrons are invited to wait in the rush line for available seats in the theater. These seats will not become available earlier than 10 minutes before showtime. Once the total number of open seats has been determined, those waiting in the rush line will be invited to enter the screening.
