What’s new for 2018?
Overlook returns with a special edition nestled in the heart of America’s most haunted city. Our festival headquarters for 2018 is the Bourbon Orleans Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana. The 200-year-old hotel is a historic location famed for its haunted history and strange happenings. Rumor has it, the hotel’s 4th floor child ghost was the inspiration for THE SHINING’s Grady Twins. Come play with us in the French Quarter at the immersive, cinephile experience you’ve come to know and love, while revisiting the very roots of American horror.
What kind of films and events will be at the festival?
We have a selection of feature length and short films, contemporary to classic, including festival favorites and world premieres in the horror/thriller genres.
In addition to the films, there will be a host of other activities, including parties, live shows, music, interactive events, virtual reality, and one-of-a-kind immersive experiences.
What is the schedule for the weekend?
We kick it off the evening of Thursday, April 19th with screenings and our Opening Night Film + Party. Films and events will play throughout the weekend until Sunday night with additional parties Friday April 20th and Saturday April 21st.
Do you accept film submissions?
Yes, submissions are now open until February 5th, 2018. Final notifications will go out between late March and early April.

Do you accept submissions for live shows or interactive experiences?
We do not currently have a submission process for live shows or interactive experiences at this time. The programming team does not accept unsolicited pitches for live shows, panels or immersive content and can only curate a piece if at least one member of the programming team has seen the content. If you feel you have a horror experience that is right for the festival, and would like to invite a representative of the festival to view your work, you can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
What are the immersive experiences?
Our events, both curated and commissioned, range from the family friendly to the sort of adults-only happenings that may require a waiver. The festival tailors its events to a variety of attendees— You’ll never quite know what to expect, but the festival will clearly communicate in several ways the intensity and commitment level of each and every event. The safety, comfort, and enjoyment of our attendees is always our utmost concern.
Past experiences have included everything from one-on-one scenes in intimate spaces to a full weekend game spent solving puzzles and interacting with actors, from live radio plays to virtual reality, to haunted houses and more.

How do I volunteer at the festival?

How can industry/press attend the festival?
Press accreditation applications will open soon. Check back for the most up to date information here. There is no separate industry badge – industry must purchase a pass to attend. See a list of passes here.
Is my pass tied to the hotel? Are there packages?
Booking hotel rooms will not be tied to passes for the festival this year. There are two pass options available: ALL ACCESS which includes all screenings, panels, and special events and FILM+PANEL which includes access to regular screenings and panels only. A small quantity of individual screening tickets will be available in April. Grab your pass, then head to the lodging page to learn more about places to stay nearby. Festival headquarters will be located at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel and the bulk of screenings will take place at Regal Cinemas Cinebarre Canal Place 9 Movie Theater.
Should I stay 3 or 4 days?
Do note that while Closing Night is Saturday night, we will continue to screen through Sunday night.

Where do I pick up my badge and or/tickets at the festival?
Meet us in the lobby of the Bourbon Orleans hotel starting April 19th.
Will you send me my tickets and/or badge?
We hold all badges and tickets at will call at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel. Starting April 19, check-in in person with your photo ID to receive your badge.
What kind of guests attend the festival?
Horror fans from all over the globe to industry folk and filmmakers… you never know who will be cycling down the streets of the french quarter— guest or ghoul.
